Medical. OLAR covers all medical expenses for their foster animals. If you have other pets, please provide proof they are spayed/neutered and current on all required vaccines (dog: rabies, DHPP / cat: rabies, FVRCP). Bordatella is optional, however OLAR is not liable if your pet gets kennel cough. If you will be fostering cats please provide proof the resident cats are combo test negative. We are happy to offer referrals to low-cost and free clinics if needed. The foster parent must provide their own pets with all necessary medical care and vaccinations; we strongly encourage heartworm and flea preventative as well. All pets belonging to the foster parent which are not the property of OLAR shall be spayed/neutered. Exceptions may be made for senior pets upon approval of OLAR. (1) The Georgia Department of Agriculture requires that all foster homes complete a home inspection and paperwork to verify the animal will be in a safe environment. We promise this isn’t as intimidating as it sounds! The brief, informal walk-through is done by an OLAR volunteer virtually (ie Facetime or Zoom) or in person. Per a recommendation by the GA Department of Agriculture, we request for fosters to refrain from fostering animals from other rescue organizations concurrently. Compliance with all GA DOA regulations ensures the safety and health of foster animals and their foster families. (2) OLAR requires all foster parents who rent to provide documentation of Landlord's approval for a pet on the premises, that any required pet fees have been paid, and that the foster animal is within imposed breed and size restrictions. Foster parents who are in an HOA must provide documentation of HOA approval. If you need assistance with a pet fee let us know, we can try to find a sponsor to assist. Training. OLAR requests that all dog foster parents and their foster dogs attend at least two free training classes each month. Classes are held on weeknights and weekends and led by a certified canine behavior consultant. Training sessions are vital to help improve the foster dog's behavior and be successful when they find their forever home. Certain animals may have socialization limitations that exempt them from attending training. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial IV. Adoption Events. OLAR requests that all foster animals attend at least two adoption events each month. Events are typically held on weekends and are a great way to help find a forever home. If your schedule does not permit you to attend these events we can coordinate someone to assist with taking them on your behalf, however it's best for them to be with their foster parent so that they are most comfortable, and you can answer any questions that prospective adopters may have about the foster animal. Certain animals may have socialization limitations that exempt them from attending events. Duties. OLAR requests that the foster parent actively participate in helping their foster animal find a forever home. The foster parent is expected to provide a fair and honest assessment of the foster animal, biography information and photos/videos (or meet with OLAR for photos/videos) for marketing, to be courteous, helpful, and honest with potential adopters, and to cooperate in showing the foster animal. We also request for foster parents to post the foster animal on their social media pages and network with their friend/family/work contacts, and to take the foster animal on outings in their 'adopt me' bandana if possible. Foster parents must promptly notify OLAR of any behavioral, medical, or other issues with their foster animal. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial VI. Duration. OLAR prefers for foster animals to remain with one foster parent until they are adopted. This stability provides them with time to adjust to home life, to get proper training, and is much less stressful for them. In addition, it creates an undue hardship for OLAR to locate a new foster parent when most foster homes are full and in such short supply. The foster parent may meet the foster animal in advance to confirm they are a good fit for one another. Foster parents are expected to continue to attend training and adoption events until the animal is placed with a new foster parent. Foster parents who brought an animal to OLAR (ie owner surrender, shelter pull, found stray, rehoming) are required to locate a new foster parent for their animal via their social media, family, friend, and work networks. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial VII. Preventives and Supplies. OLAR requires that all foster animals are given their flea and heartworm preventatives on time every month. These are provided by OLAR free of charge. OLAR can provide any items you may need (crate, bed, leash, collar, food, treats, toys). Any items borrowed from OLAR must be returned when the foster parent ceases to foster for OLAR. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial VIII. Responsibilities. The OLAR Foster Manual is available at https://oneloveanimalrescue.com/foster/. The foster parent agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of this Agreement and the Foster Manual. (1) The foster animal shall be treated in a humane and responsible manner, and provided with sufficient shelter, water, and food. (2) The OLAR ID tag shall remain on the foster animal at all times, excluding when crated. (3) The foster animal will be kept on a leash or in a secure pet carrier when outside of its foster home or fenced yard, and kept within the passenger compartment of any vehicle during vehicular transportation. (4) Foster animals must be supervised at all times when children and/or other animals are present. (5) Foster animals are to reside indoors as family pets and never to be left outside unsupervised. Animals can not be kenneled outdoors or tethered. . (6) OLAR must be notified immediately if there is any change in the status of either the foster animal in the care, or in the home environment. (7) OLAR must be notified immediately in the event their foster animal is injured or missing. In the event an OLAR approved veterinarian cannot be reached, reasonable emergency veterinary expenses for the foster animal will be reimbursed by OLAR in accordance with the Foster Manual. (8) OLAR will support our foster animals 100% in vetting and supplies as long as funds are available, but appreciates any willingness to donate basic supplies. The foster parent will keep all receipts and submit copies to OLAR for any expenses incurred for the foster animal. If spaying or neutering of the pet needs to be completed, arrangements will be discussed with OLAR and the foster home. (9) In the event the foster parent needs to go out of town, they must provide adequate notice so OLAR can arrange for a babysitter. If a babysitter cannot be arranged OLAR cover costs to board the foster animal. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial IX. Adoption Process. (1) Adoption applications are processed in the order they are received; therefore if the foster parent wishes to adopt their foster animal they must notify OLAR and submit an application as soon as possible. The adoption fee/donation will be applicable. (2) The foster animal's name cannot be changed until it is adopted. (3) Ownership of the foster animal shall remain with OLAR until such time as a proper adoption is completed by OLAR. (4) No foster animal may be adopted, transferred, or relinquished without written approval by an authorized OLAR representative. (5) Only designated OLAR representatives have the authority to approve and place rescued animals into foster or permanent homes; only authorized representatives will conduct interviews and home visits and make adoption placement decisions. (6) Adoption will be consummated only upon execution of the OLAR adoption contract, receipt of adoption fees/donations, and final approval by an authorized OLAR representative. Please initial to confirm you understand and agree to these terms.*Initial XI. Agreement and Release of Liability.
