Tainted with a cleaning compound, certain rawhide dog chew products are being recalled after making some pets ill.
The recalled products are American Beefhide, Digest-eeze, Good ‘n’ Fit, Good ‘n’ Fun and Healthy Hide; all of which were sold nationally both in stores and online.
While there have been no reported fatalities, there have been reports of diarrhea and vomiting, the company said in a news release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration site. Additional symptoms may include reduced appetite and gastric irritation which may require veterinarian care.
All products in the recall have an expiration date ranging from 06/01/2019 through 05/31/2020 on the back of the packages. The recalled products are of all package sizes and weights and have lot codes that start with AH, AV, A, AI, AO or AB. If you purchased any of these effected products, you are eligible for a refund. Simply return the products to the places of purchase or call the United Pet Group consumer affairs team at 1-855-215-4962 between the hours of 8:00 am – 11:00 pm EST.
