Introducing Our April Volunteer of the Month

Please meet Butch Krishnamurti, our OLAR April Volunteer of the Month! Butch not only volunteers with OLAR, but is the volunteer coordinator at Chatham County Animal Services. He is always keeping an eye out for us at the shelter, ready to pounce on any opportunity for us to help an animal in need.

Here is a little more about Butch, from Butch himself:

Meet our April 2018 Volunteer of the Month: Butch KI started getting involved at One Love Animal Rescue about two years ago.  At that time, I had been volunteering at Chatham County Animal Services for several months, and I grew particularly fond of a dog who had been at the shelter for several weeks named Buddha.  I knew his time was likely running short at the shelter, and I reached out to Karrie to see if she would be willing to take Buddha under One Love care if I was willing to foster him.  Without hesitation, Karrie agreed.  Her only request was that I be a committed foster.  She was not concerned with breed, size, or adoptability – it was only about the opportunity to save an animal.  From that moment forward, I have been a strong advocate and active volunteer for One Love Animal Rescue.  I love the mission and drama free culture.  And I enjoy being around the One Love Team.  Just very good people doing very good things for animals.

As for my specific involvement with One Love, I continue to foster Buddha.  We changed his name to Breeze, and I have been his foster parent coming up on two years.   I know, I know, I have foster failure written all over me. ☺  I also volunteer at some fund raising events for One Love.  And I work closely with Karrie and Erin to help plan/coordinate many of our long-distance animal transports.  It’s been very rewarding to see over 600 cats and dogs get saved from our local area due to the long-distance transports.   So many volunteers from One Love have helped in these transport efforts.  It’s a great team!

On a personal front, I work at Brasseler USA as Director of Human Resources.  I have worked there a little over 4 years.  I live in Bacon Park with my foster dog Breeze, and my cat Soleil.  I am also the Volunteer Coordinator at Chatham County Animal Services, and enjoy helping out at the shelter.  In terms of hobbies, I enjoy watching sports, going to the movies, and just hanging out with friends.

I am honored to be selected as Volunteer of the Month.  There are so many great people associated with this great rescue, and I am just happy to be part of the team.

Butch, we are the ones who are honored by your advocation and dedication! You always have wonderfully encouraging words for when the seas are rough and are always willing to jump in head first. It is volunteers like you that make OLAR as amazing as it is!
